Apple is considering a switchable 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate screen on the iPhone in 2021 and is discussing with Samsung and LG.

Among all the iPhone models from Apple, the only common thing is display. With display, we are talking about screen refresh rate in the devices. But if the recent report from Ice Universe is to be considered, it is being said that Apple’s iPhone 2021 model iPhone 12 will be getting 120 Hz screen instead of traditional 60 Hz.

Ice Universe, which is believed to be a well-known source from Samsung, has tweeted “Apple is considering a switchable 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate screen on the iPhone in 2021, and is discussing with Samsung and LG.” Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2 do have 120 Hz displays to cater the best gaming experience and Apple’s iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation) and iPad Pro 10.5-inch also got 120 Hz display refresh rate as well but adding the same to iPhone 12 is a brave move from Apple.

This will be a phenomenal upgrade to the new 2021 iPhones. The only drawback of this switchable 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate screen drawback is that the high refresh rates drain more power and it requires larger batteries. There is a talk in the town that Apple is placing larger batteries in the next-gen iPhones. Apple is in discussion with Samsung and LG regarding this upgrade as they are the biggest suppliers of OLED screen in the world right now. Apple already has four of its devices in the market with a 120Hz refresh rate. Apart from this, other rumours are suggesting iPhone 12 to have a notch-less display and a smaller TrueDepth camera in front.

iPhone 11 is set to release in Apple’s big event in September and a triple camera for iPhone 2019 is confirmed.  After the final revelation of iPhone 11, we shall be able to guess what new features may be expected for iPhone 12. iOS 13 is also slated to be rolled out in fall this year with the availability of iPhone 11 models.
