As confirmed by Apple last week, iOS 17 the latest operating system, is set to roll out today, September 18th 2023. It is going to be one of the major upgrades from all compatible iPhones with amazing new features and improvements. As with previous iOS releases, Apple has never provided an exact time for the software update’s availability. However, looking at past iOS launch patterns we can make an assumption as to when users can expect to start downloading iOS 17 onto their compatible iPhones.
What time is iOS 17 coming out?
Typically, new iOS versions release around 10 AM Pacific Time, which translates to 6 PM in the UK. So British iPhone owners can anticipate iOS 17 launching around teatime today if Apple follows its usual release schedule.If our calculations are correct, we think iOS 17 will be made available at 6pm BST that’s 10am PT.

What time is iOS 17 coming out in UK?
For UK iPhone fans eager to get Apple’s latest features, circle 6 PM on your calendar. That’s the tentative time of iOS 17 showing up on its compatible devices. The time is not confirmed yet, but looking at the history of previous releases UK should get iOS 17 update by 6 PM.
How to download and install iOS 17?
To check to see if your iPhone has access you can simply head to the settings menu and tap General and Software Update. Once iOS 17 goes live you’ll see the software available to download and install.
To install iOS 17 when it becomes available,
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to the General tab.
- Click on Software Update.
- The download file size should be around 3GB, comparable to last year’s iOS 16 update. So clearing some storage space beforehand is recommended. Also, downloading over WiFi is preferable given the large file size.
- Click on download and install.
- Enter passcode if prompted.
- Confirm your actions.
- Your iPhone will restart after updating to iOS 17.
iOS 17 brings a ton of new capabilities to the iPhone. Key features include StandBy Mode to save battery life, enhancements to FaceTime calls, new Live Stickers for Messages, and easier contact sharing between iOS users.

The update will be compatible with a wide range of recent iPhone models, including the iPhone 14 lineup, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 generation, iPhone 11 series, iPhone XS and XR, and newer iPhone SE models. Sadly, not every device is getting access to iOS 17 this year with smartphones including the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X not compatible due to their age and not having enough processing power to keep up with what’s new.
