Isn’t it frustrating when you are talking on call and suddenly there is too much disturbance going on in the background? It surely is stressful for me when I can’t hear the other person properly on call. Luckily Apple has a solution for everything. Apple has given us a hidden feature that blocks all the voices coming from the background during video or voice calls. This hidden feature is called Voice Isolation. The main question is will this feature be supported on iOS 16.4 devices? Let’s find out!

What is Voice Isolation?

Voice Isolation is a feature that was introduced in iOS 15 for FaceTime calls, and now it is also available for cellular calls in iOS 16.4. Voice Isolation uses machine learning to filter out background noises and enhance your voice quality during phone conversations. It is especially useful when you are in a noisy environment and want to make sure the other person can hear you clearly.

Which iOS 16.4 devices support Voice Isolation?

To use Voice Isolation on your iPhone, you must install iOS 16.4 or later. You also need a compatible device that supports this feature. According to Apple, the list of voice isolation iOS 16.4 supported devices are:

– iPhone 13 Pro

– iPhone 13 Pro Max

– iPhone 13

– iPhone 13 mini

– iPhone 12 Pro

– iPhone 12 Pro Max

– iPhone 12

– iPhone 12 mini

– iPhone 11 Pro

– iPhone 11 Pro Max

How to enable Voice Isolation on iOS 16.4?

If you have one of these devices, you can enable Voice Isolation for cellular calls by following these steps:

  1. Start a phone call using the phone app or Facetime with someone.
  2. During the call, open the Control Center on your iPhone by swiping down from the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap on the Mic Mode icon, which looks like a microphone with three dots below it.
  4. Choose the Voice Isolation option from the list that appears.
  5. When Voice Isolation is enabled, you will see a blue checkmark next to it.

You can also switch to the Standard mode or the Wide Spectrum mode if you prefer. The Standard mode is the default setting that does not apply any noise cancellation or enhancement to your voice. The Wide Spectrum mode captures more background sounds and lets the other person hear what is happening around you.

Final words:

Voice Isolation is a great way to improve your phone call experience and make your voice sound more professional and clear. You can use it for any cellular call, whether it is a personal or a business one. However, keep in mind that Voice Isolation may not work well in some situations, such as when you are wearing a mask or when there is a lot of wind noise. In those cases, you may want to use a headset or earphone with a microphone instead.

Until next time, with another topic. Till then, Toodles.
