If your device is not on this list, it means that it cannot run iOS 17. You can still use your device with the previous version of iOS, but you will not be able to enjoy the new features and enhancements that iOS 17 offers. Which iPhone model will not get iOS 17?
Before removing an iPhone model from the list, Apple typically keeps it on the market for five years. That would imply that models introduced in 2017 run the risk of not being supported by iOS 17 this year. The iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X were all introduced in 2017, hence it is possible that these models will lose the support of iOS 17. These phones won’t get iOS 17 because, in our opinion, their outdated chipsets can’t support the new features. Even the features of iOS 16 are inaccessible to them. (For example, to use features like Live Text in the most recent iOS, you need at least an iPhone XR.)
So, it might be safe to say that iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X will not be compatible with the new iOS 17 update.
IOS 17 release date
