But wait there is a catch, this feature is initially limited to the USA and Canada, leaving users in the UK out of the loop. But fear not, as there’s a handy workaround for Voicemail transcription in iOS 17 in UK. In this article, I am going to walk you through the steps of how to use voicemail transcription in iOS 17 in UK.

What is voicemail transcription in iOS 17?

Voicemail transcription is a feature in iOS 17 that automatically transcribes incoming voicemail messages into text.The transcription shows up in real-time as the person is leaving the voicemail message. This allows you to read the message instead of listening to the audio.It also gives you the option to pick up the call while the voicemail is being left.The text transcript is saved along with the voicemail audio recording in the Phone app. You can view it, share it, create calendar events from it, etc.

Is voicemail transcription available in UK?

The voice transcription feature was launched first in the US and Canada with iOS 17. It is not yet widely available in other countries like the UK.However, iPhone users in other countries can enable it by changing their device region to the US and language to English US.

How to use voicemail transcription in iOS 17 in UK?

  1. Start by opening your iPhone’s Settings.
  2. Scroll down and select Siri and Search.
  3. Under Language, change it to English United States.
  4. Now, scroll down further and change the Regionto the United States as well.
  5. Once you’ve made these adjustments, it’s important to restart your device to ensure the changes take effect.
  6. After your iPhone has restarted, you should now be able to access Live Voicemail with real-time transcription, even in the UK.

Whenever someone leaves you a voicemail, you’ll see the transcription as it happens, allowing you to read the message without listening to it.

  1. Viewing Transcripts: To view the transcript of a voicemail, open the Phone app, tap Voicemail, and select the voicemail message you want to read. The transcript will appear below the voicemail message.
  2. Sharing Transcripts: If you need to share a voicemail transcript with others, press and hold the transcript text, select the portion you want to copy, tap Share, and choose the app through which you want to share it.
  3. Creating Calendar Events: If a voicemail contains information about a specific date or time, you can create a Calendar event directly from the transcript. Just tap the date or time in the transcript, select Create Event when prompted, and provide the necessary event details.
  4. Reporting Feedback: In case the transcription isn’t accurate, you can report feedback to Apple. Open the Phone app, select the voicemail, tap Useful or Not Useful, and decide whether you want to submit the voicemail toApple to improve transcription accuracy.

It’s important to note that changing your region and language settings won’t affect other aspects of your iPhone’s functionality. You can still keep your keyboard language set to English UK, and your App Store region will remain tied to your account’s region.
