Changing the alarm volume on your iPhone is easy to do but not immediately obvious. The alarm volume is separate from your ringer and alert volumes, so you’ll need to adjust it independently. Let me show you how to change your iPhone alarm volume using the Clock app and the Settings app.

Method 1: Adjust Alarm Volume in Settings

The easiest way to change the alarm volume on iPhone is through the Settings app. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Open Settings App

Launch the Settings app on your iPhone. You can find it on your home screen or by using Spotlight Search.

Step 2: Go to Sounds & Haptics

Scroll down and select the Sounds & Haptics option. This is where you can manage volumes for various audio alerts.

Step 3: Adjust Alarm Volume Slider

Under the Ringer and Alerts section, you will find a Volumeslider. Drag the slider left or right to decrease or increase the volume respectively.

As you adjust, an alarm tone will play to give you a preview of the volume level. Set it to your desired loudness.

Step 4: Enable Volume Button Control (Optional)

Below the volume sliders, toggle on the switch labeled Change with Buttons. This allows you to conveniently control the alarm volume using the physical volume buttons on your iPhone. I usually turn off this options as I don’t want to change the volume of my alarm of ringtone with keyboard while using my phone.

Method 2: Change Alarm Volume from Clock App

Alternatively, you can change the alarm volume directly from the iOS Clock app when editing an alarm. Here is how:

Step 1: Open Clock App and Select Alarm

Launch the Clock app on your iPhone and tap on the Alarm tab at the bottom to view your active alarms.

Step 2: Edit Alarm and Access Sound Settings

Tap the Edit button at the top right and then tap on the alarm you want to configure from the list. This will open the alarm details.

Step 3: Preview and Select Alarm Tone

You will now see a list of all available alarm tones. Tap on a tone to play a preview.

Select the tone that has your desired volume level. The louder tones will have names like Analog Alarm, Radar Alarm, etc.

Step 4: Save Changes

Once you have selected the alarm tone, tap the back button to return to alarm details. Make sure the correct Sound is now listed.

Finally, tap Save at the top right to apply the changes. The alarm will ring at the new volume going forward.

Method 3: Set Gradual Ascending Alarm Volume

If you want the alarm volume to gently increase instead of blasting sound immediately, use the Bedtime alarm in the Clock app:

Step 1: Open Bedtime Tab

In the Clock app, swipe to access the Bedtime tab. Tap Options at the bottom to set up a new bedtime schedule.

Step 2: Configure Bedtime Settings

Choose your bedtime, wake up time and sleep goal.

Under Sound, you will see alarm tones that gradually increase in volume to wake you up gently. Pick one and tap Done.

Step 3: Enable Bedtime Schedule

Toggle on the Bedtime switch at the top to activate the schedule. The alarm will now increase volume gradually at wake up time.

Use this method if you want a gentle wake up call instead of a sudden loud alarm.

Final Words

Adjusting alarm loudness on an iPhone is easy once you know the right place to look. Use the Clock app to control volume for specific alarms. For an overall volume change, head to Sounds & Haptics in Settings. And for gradual increasing alarm volume, use the Bedtime settings.
