Apple’s WWDC 2020: Let’s Find Out More About Apple’s June Event

Apple's WWDC 2020

Apple has officially announced the details of Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference 2020. WWDC 2020 is free and online-only, taking place on 22nd June 2020. WWDC is the largest in-person conference which happens over the course of a week but this time due to Covid-19, it is being organized online.

Apple has come up with a new format for WWDC 2020 which will deliver a full program with  online sessions, which will offer a great learning experience for all the developers, all around the world. Apple has also said that they will be sharing more details regarding WWDC 2020 in a few weeks.

More About WWDC 2020

WWDC 2020 is going to be free for all the Apple developers. Videos of all the live sessions, and all the related documentation are offered through Apple’s website and applications for the active Apple developer accounts in previous years, too. Apple sponsors hundreds of students to attend their Developer Conference every year. But as we all know there’s no in-person event this year, so Apple is planning to do something different with the students. Apple has announced the Swift Student Challenge for this year.  The Swift Student Challenge has tasks for students where they will be creating short experiences using Swift Playgrounds, Apple’s Mac and iPad app for learning coding with its Swift programming language. Students need to submit their projects by midnight of 17th May 2020. Winners will be selected and will be awarded.

What can be Expected from WWDC 2020

WWDC 2020 is going to be big as all the new products and technologies of Apple are going to be discussed in it. Developers will be getting hands-on experience on the new code and will interact with new technologies and frameworks.

Apple usually focuses on the software in its Developer Conference every year including the updates of iOS and MacOS but sometimes they also introduce some new devices. In WWDC 2019, Apple introduced its new Mac Pro desktop of $5,999 and Apple Pro Display XDR of $4,999, which was mainly designed for professional artists, editors and coders.

Apple has recently launched a 13-inch Macbook Pro with Magic Keyboard and also iPhone SE 2020. And it is expected that Apple will also be launching Apple iPhone 12 later this year. So we can also expect that new technologies related to these devices can be discussed. Recently there are some rumors that Apple is trying to add health features in its new devices, so developers may get some hint about this new technology.

Other Developer Conferences

Apple’s WWDC is not the only developer conference which is being organized online. Microsoft’s  Build 2020 has also declared a 48-hour virtual event which is free for all, starting from 19th May 2020. Whereas, Google’s I/O Developer Conference was cancelled completely due to the coronavirus pandemic which was about to happen in March 2020. Also, Facebook has cancelled its Developer Conference.
