There is this one feature that has been around Android devices for quite some time now, leaving Apple behind in this game. The feature I am talking about is always on display. Mostly every Android device from mid rang to premium devices has this feature. In 2021 there were rumours around that Apple may have planned to introduce this feature in iPhone 13 but to our disappointment it did not happen. Although this feature was introduced in Apple watches with watch series 5, iPhone was still waiting for this feature. Fortunately, this year Apple finally added Always on Display feature with iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro max.

What is Always on Display on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max ?

One of the most well- known features Always on Display, which has been in the market for quiet sometime now has finally been introduced by Apple for its iOS users. Basically, with this feature your screen will be on display even when your phone is locked. Limited information will be display on your screen, such as time, date, notifications, weather, battery percentage etc. You can even customise it as per your choice. Even iOS 16’s lock screen will give the best look to the dark and dim display of the device.

Will iOS 16 have Always on Display?

Sadly, iOS 16 will not get Always On Display feature since Apple has designed and added it to iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max with OLED panel and enough refresh rate to show display in dim.

Which iPhone device will be compatible in having Always on Display feature?

Only iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will support Alwasy On Display.

Always on display consumes battery life?

Always on display feature on iPhone is almost similar to Apple watch. It is practically the same. Now when Apple watch transitioned to an always on display it had new sensors, drivers and circuits for the display. They’re all claim to use significantly less power than before and even with the refresh rate of 1 Hertz it did still have an impact on battery life but it was not much, something like six percent. So, it might be safe to say that iPhone with much bigger battery will be able to lie down roughly same amount of pixel without much impact on battery life.

Conclusion:

So, iOS 16 will not have Alwasy on Display for olde iPhone users. It will be only available for iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max users.
