Thalapathy Vijay, one of the biggest stars in Tamil cinema, recently launched the membership drive for his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). However, contrary to some reports, TVK does not have a dedicated mobile app available for download on iOS devices. Instead, Vijay has launched an online portal where supporters can join the party as members.

How to Join TVK as a Member

There are four easy ways to become a member of Thalapathy Vijay’s TVK party:

  1. WhatsApp users: Click on the link or send a WhatsApp message with the text ‘TVK’ to the number 09444-00-5555.
  2. Telegram users: Click on the link to join via Telegram.
  3. Web portal: Visit the TVK membership web portal at and fill out the online form.
  4. SMS: Send an SMS with the text ‘TVK’ to 09444-00-5555.

To complete the membership process, you will need to provide your voter ID number. A one-time password (OTP) will be sent to your mobile number for verification. You may also need to upload a selfie as part of the registration.

TVK’s Digital Membership Drive

Vijay formally announced the launch of TVK in February 2024, with the aim of bringing about fundamental political changes desired by the people of Tamil Nadu. Rather than contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, TVK plans to focus on strengthening its grassroots presence and preparing for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

As part of this grassroots expansion, TVK has launched a digital membership drive to enroll supporters across the state. The party has set an ambitious goal of registering 2 crore members, which would represent about 32% of Tamil Nadu’s 6.2 crore voters.

To spearhead the membership drive, TVK will be appointing district and assembly constituency in-charges who will coordinate with a dedicated women-led membership wing. The party also plans to conduct membership camps across the state at the district, municipal, town, and village levels.

Vijay himself was the first to enroll as a TVK member through the digital portal, followed by the party’s general secretary Bussy N Anand and other functionaries. In his first video message as a politician, Vijay revealed that he joined TVK through his phone and invited like-minded supporters to do the same if they believe in the party’s vision of inclusive, corruption-free governance.

What’s Confusion Around a TVK App

Some initial reports and social media posts incorrectly suggested that Vijay had launched a dedicated “TVK app” for the membership drive. However, TVK has clarified that the party does not currently have an official mobile app on either Android or iOS platforms.

There are also some unrelated apps that use the “TVK” name or acronym. However, these apps are not officially associated with Thalapathy Vijay’s political party.

TVK’s current focus is on leveraging existing digital platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and its own web portal to enroll members. The party’s IT wing is likely working on developing an official app, which will be launched at a later stage to further streamline the membership process.

Final Thoughts

Hence, while Thalapathy Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party has kicked off a major digital membership drive, it has not yet released an official mobile app for iOS. Supporters can join TVK as members through WhatsApp, Telegram, the party’s web portal, or SMS.

Vijay, who plans to transition into a full-time politician, is aiming to register 2 crore members and build a strong grassroots presence ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. As TVK’s political journey unfolds, we can expect the party to continue leveraging digital technology to engage with supporters and expand its base across the state.
