After the success of Apple 12 series, the company is now planning to launch the iPhone 13 lineup next year. The new report stated that unlike the previous iPhone 12 models all the iPhone 13 series models are expected to be enabled with LiDAR sensors.

The iPhone 12 series which was launched this year consists of the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max but only the iPhone 12 Pro series uses a ToF (time-of-flight) LiDAR scanner. Because of the popularity of the iPhone 12 Pro series there are now speculations that the entire iPhone 13 series will introduce the ToF LiDAR scanner as per reports from Digitimes.

The LiDAR technology was first introduced in the latest generation iPad Pro in March this year. It helps to improve the AR experiences. An excellent LiDAR Scanner means users can experience AR like never before and it also offers benefits to the camera with faster autofocus in dim and low light and in the Night mode portraits.

The iPhone 13 series is tipped to receive D-ToF (Direct Time-of-Flight) technology. Sensors for the apple iphone 13 series are expected to be provided by a US based company known as II-VI which will be entering Apple’s supply chain for its next generation iPhone models.

Major design changes are not expected, they want to share the same design philosophy as the existing iPhones in the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup so they may mirror the iPhone 12 family with a 5.4 inch iPhone 13 Mini, 6.1-inch iPhone 13, 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Since all the new iPhone 12 models are equipped with f/2.4, 5P Ultra-wide cameras with fixed focus, so the iPhone 13 series Ultra-wide cameras of the two high end models will be significantly upgraded to f/1.8, 6P with autofocus according to the reports. Leaks and case practitioners have indirectly verified that the number of holes in the rear lens will be increased in iPhone 13. According to the supply chain of Apple there is a significant change in the 3D sensing device of Apple’s iPhone 13 models. The report also states that Apple would add VCSEL chips in the front camera setup and that could improve the phone’s 3D sensing capabilities dramatically. So, it means the company could also shrink the notch with a shallower notch to increase the screen to body ratio of the device.

Rumors are there that the company could get rid of all the ports from the iPhone 13 series which means the phone could be launched without any ports and users will have to completely depend on wireless charging. However we can expect the extra camera hole to be added to the back and with a little extra weight due to the extra battery juice.

Analysts from Barclays Blayne Curtis, Thomas O’Malley and Tim Long suggested that the iPhone 13 Pro models may feature Wi-Fi 6E to support Wi-Fi 6 features and capabilities which will include lower latency, higher performance and faster data rates.
