Yes, according to the Kuo, Apple’s next iPhone launch is being postponed, despite reassurances from Foxconn that it’s making up for a lost time. As the recently launched iPhone SE 2021 model has a huge demand than expectation, Apple decided to delay the delivery dates slip into May. Well, Apple expects 12-14 million SE phones to ship this quarter, followed by 10 million in Q3. But Kuo warned that the budget-friendly iPhone SE 2021 would also affect the sale of premium iPhone 11 models as most of the people do prefer affordable device. So the predictions for iPhone shipments in Q2 were slashed by 30%. TF International Securities is also cutting its Q2 2021 iPhone shipment estimation by 30 percent due to “negative impacts from COVID-19.” Also, since the COVID-19 is going on around the world, people would prefer a cheap device instead of a premium iPhone 11 at a higher price.
Since COVID-19 forced every country to lockdown, the production of the iPhone 12 will get delayed due to the travel bans, and the company had to delegate more local employees that may take a month.
Kuo suggested that Apple may start the production of a 6.1-inch and 5.4-inch iPhone 12 in September and a 6.7-inch iPhone until October because the 6.7-inch device would have the most complicated design.
We also know that testing labs are closed. So, the mmWave antenna had to be redesigned in April, which caused further delays. Therefore, it’s not clear whether they add it to the iPhone 12 models or not. Hence we may see the release of four iPhone 12 models along, but not too early.
The leaker Kuo also predicted the larger version of iPhone SE as an iPhone SE Plus, which known after the iOS 14 code. But sad to say that we will not see the iPhone SE Plus this year as Apple will release it with the same schedule next year, we may also see the change in release because this year, Apple released it online amid coronavirus.
