Is it fall yet? The time flies so quickly. You know what is means, its time for the Apple’s annual fall event. User are waiting for this event as it usually brings brand new software update for iPad owners. This time during this event we will be seeing the latest iPadOS 17 packed with amazing new features taking the experience for iPad users to the next level. The question is when can we get our hands on this new iPadOS 17 update. In this article, we will be looking at the release date of the latest iPadOS 17, and what it might have instore for us.

IpadOS 17, the next major update is right around the corner. Apple typically reveals new versions of iPadOS at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, followed by a public beta, leading up to an official release in the fall alongside new iPhone models.This year has followed a similar pattern. iPadOS 17 was launched at WWDC 2022 on June 6th. Currently, the public beta is available for anyone to try, and the official version is likely coming within the next couple months.

So when exactly can we expect the iPadOS 17 release date? Let’s take a closer look at what we know so far about the launch timeline.

iPadOS 17 Release Date

Apple has not officially announced an iPadOS 17 release date yet. However, if history is any indicator, we can make a good guess. Looking at the history of iPadOS release dates, iPadOS 14Se was dated to September 16, 2020, iPadOS 15 was released on September 20, 2021 followed by iPadOS 16 which was released on October 24, 2022. Looking at the pattern of release of the previous version we can say that the new versions of iPadOS 17will become available in September.

This year, Apple is holding its annual iPhone launch event on September 12th. It’s highly likely iPadOS 17 will be released shortly after, probably around September 20th.The iPadOS 17 public beta has already provided us with a good sense of the new features and improvements coming in this update. But the official release will mark the first stable, non-beta version available to the general public.

Which iPads Will Get iPadOS 17?

Not all iPads will be compatible with iPadOS 17. In general, Apple supports iPadOS updates for iPads released in the last 4-5 years.Based on this policy, here are the iPads expected to support iPadOS 17:

  • Enhanced collaboration – SharePlay gains support for shared playback controls and an API for integrating SharePlay into third-party apps.
  • Undo send and edit for Messages – iPadOS 17 lets you edit or recall recently sent messages, recover recently deleted messages, and mark conversations as unread.
