Why is the weather app not working on iOS?

If your iOS weather app is not working properly, you might be wondering how to fix it. but before trying any fixes try to understand the reason behind the weather app not working. There are a few possible reasons why the app might be malfunctioning:

  • Network Connection: The app needs a stable internet connection to access the latest weather data. If your device is not connected to the internet, or if there are network connectivity issues, the app may not be able to retrieve the latest weather information.
  • App Glitch: Sometimes the Weather app can encounter glitches or bugs that can cause it to stop working. This can be due to software issues, outdated app versions, or problems with the device’s operating system.
  • Location Services: The Weather app uses location services to provide accurate weather data based on your current location. If location services are disabled or not working properly, the app may not be able to provide the correct information.
  • Server Issues: The app relies on external servers to fetch weather information. If the servers are down or not responding, the app may not be able to display the latest data.
  • Device Compatibility: Sometimes the Weather app may not be compatible with older versions of iOS or certain devices. In such cases, users may need to update their devices or use a different app to access weather information.

Check your internet connection

Make sure your Wi-Fi or cellular internet connection is strong and quick. By launching a web browser and loading a webpage, you can check your connection. You might need to switch to a different network or get in touch with your service provider if the page loads slowly or not at all.

Restart your device

A quick reboot can occasionally resolve small issues and revitalise your system. Press and hold the power button until you see a slider display on the screen to restart your smartphone. To switch off your smartphone, slide it. After a little delay, press and hold the power button once again until the Apple logo appears.

If there is a Download and Install button, select it.

Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and choose the weather app from the list of apps to remove the app cache. After tapping the app, select Offload App. This will remove the app but leave its data intact. Then click Reinstall App to get it from the App Store once more. By doing this, the cache will be cleared and the app’s settings will be reinstated.

Reset your location settings

It’s possible that the weather app is having problems locating you or showing the correct weather data for your location. Make sure Location Services is turned on under Settings > Privacy > Location Services before resetting your location preferences. Then, tap on the weather app after scrolling down to discover it. Make sure your location is accessible to it, either always or only when you are using the app. To clear all app location settings, select Reset Location & Privacy at the bottom of the screen.
