If you’ve ever blocked a phone number on your iPhone to stop receiving unwanted calls, messages or FaceTime requests, you may later need to view your list of blocked numbers.
Whether you want to double-check if a certain number is blocked, or you’ve had a change of heart and want to unblock someone, it’s easy to see all the numbers you’ve blocked on your iPhone. Here’s how to view and manage your blocked numbers list.
How to View Blocked Numbers in iPhone
The simplest way to see your blocked numbers on iPhone is through the built-in Phone app. Follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Scroll down and tap on Phone
- Under the “Calls” section, tap on Blocked Contacts
You will now see a list of all the phone numbers and contacts you have blocked. From here, you can:
- Tap on a number to view more details
- Tap Edit then the red minus button to unblock a number
- Tap Add New at the bottom to manually block a new number
The blocked list in the Phone settings contains numbers blocked from phone calls, FaceTime, and the Messages app. Blocking a number prevents the person from being able to call you, send you messages, or start a FaceTime conversation with you.
How to View Blocked Contacts in the Messages App
If you want to see who you’ve blocked from sending you iMessages or SMS/MMS text messages, you can check your Messages settings:
- Open the Settings app and tap Messages
- Under the “SMS/MMS” section, tap Blocked Contacts
Again, this blocked list will mirror the one in your Phone settings, since blocking a number blocks it across the Phone, FaceTime, and Messages apps. You can unblock contacts or add new numbers to block just like in the other apps.
How to Find Blocked Senders in the Mail App
In addition to blocking phone numbers and contacts, you can also block email addresses from sending you mail on your iPhone. To view your blocked senders list:
- Open Settings and tap Mail
- Under the “Threading” section, tap Blocked
Here you’ll see all the email addresses you’ve blocked. You can remove a blocked address by swiping left on it and tapping Unblock, or add a new address to block by tapping Add New… at the bottom.
How to Unblock a Number on iPhone
If you change your mind and want to unblock a number you previously blocked, it’s a quick process:
- Go to Settings => Phone => Blocked Contacts
- Find the number you want to unblock
- Swipe left on the number and tap Unblock
You can also tap Edit, then tap the red minus button next to a number and tap Unblock. The number will be immediately unblocked once you tap Unblock.
