If you own an iPhone or iPad, you’re likely familiar with the persistent “A new iOS update is available” popup. While software updates contain important security fixes and new features, constant update reminders can be annoying. Luckily, there are a few ways to stop a new ios update is now available keeps popping up on iPhone.

Turn Off Automatic Updates

The easiest way to stop update notifications is disabling automatic updates. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and toggle off “Automatic Updates” and “Download iOS Updates”. This prevents your device from automatically checking and downloading new updates. However, you’ll need to manually install updates when you want them.

Delete the Downloaded Update

If you see the “Install Now” button, that means the update has already been downloaded to your device. To remove it, go to Settings > General > iPhone/iPad Storage. Tap on the iOS update file, then tap “Delete Update”. This removes the downloaded file so your device stops pestering you to install it.

Use a tvOS Profile

A handy trick is installing an Apple TV software profile on your iPhone or iPad. Go to beta.apple.com on the device and download the tvOS profile. This tricks your device into thinking it’s an Apple TV, so it stops finding iOS updates. Updates will still happen in the background though.

Disable Wi-Fi/Cellular Data

If you want to completely prevent your device from detecting updates, you can turn off your internet connection. Disabling Wi-Fi and cellular data blocks your device from reaching Apple’s update servers. Just don’t forget to turn them back on afterwards!

Wrapping Up

While effective, stopping updates altogether isn’t recommended. Important security fixes and new features are released in software updates. But if you find the constant reminders annoying, use these tips to disable them. Just be sure to install updates manually every so often to keep your device secure.
