Now a day iPhone have become water resistant. That is a bit relief. Even if you spill a glass or two of water it won’t damage your iPhone. I remember during the pandemic I used to see my brother coming from work and going straight to wash his iPhone 11. He made sure that no virus would follow through his iPhone, and luckily no damaged was done due to water while cleaning his iPhone literally every day. We can call him germophobe. But it doesn’t mean that I would advise people to do so, it might be dangerous to put your iPhone through this, and also it will not stop water from entering into the speakers. Entering water from the speakers could also do equal damage.

What should you do if your iPhone gets wet?

  • Do not connect the iPhone. If it’s already connected in, carefully disconnect it.
  • Do not turn on your device. This can result in short circuits.
  • Remove your iPhone’s case or cover, as it may contain moisture.
  • Remove the SIM card as well. Water can accumulate in these crevices.
  • Wipe liquid off anything you can reach with a soft absorbent towel or cloth. You may even use a toothpick or a pin to make charging points, a headphone jack, or a SIM card try.
  • To clean the ports and sockets, turn the iPhone upside down and gently shake it.
  • Place your iPhone in a warm, dry place.
  • Each iPhone has a small indicator. The indication is a piece of plastic that glows red when exposed to too much water. You may check this indication to discover if your phone is damaged. To view inside the port, use a flashlight.

iPhone 5 and later – Look for a red indication in the SIM tray slot on the phone’s screen side.

Look for a red indication in the charging port or the headphone jack on an iPhone 4S.

Apple Watches include a built- in feature that may be activated to eject the water by playing a pre-set frequency, cleaning up the speaker grilles. Why iPhones don’t have a similar choice is a mystery, but there is a reasonably simple technique to get the same outcomes. It is called Fix My Speaker. My brother also used this site to eject water from speakers just in case after washing it. I bet that’s the reason his iPhone never got damaged due to water.

FIX MY SPEAKER

Fix my speaker is a similar site resembling Apple watch’s built-in feature of ejecting water from the speaker. It plays a specific tone that generates sound waves that causes the water to be ejected. You will feel the vibration, and also you can feel a little breeze of air from the speakers while you activate Fix My Speaker. It is very simple to use. Just open the site and click on the water eject button to activate blower and you are good to go. Link of Fix My Speaker has been provided. Just go to the site and click the button and your work is done.

PS: Putting your iPhone in a rice bag is just a myth. There is no actual proof that this method works. Instead, it will get dust and gril inside your device and will do same damage as water.

A word of advice; even after trying these methods listed above there might still be chances of iPhone been damaged by the water or any liquid. It’s better to get some backup so you don’t lose any data in the process. And mainly it is advisable to call Apple Care or go to the nearby Apple store and get some help.

Until next time, with another topic. Till then, Toodles.
