Apple users, its finally the time to rejoice, as I have got some exciting news for you. Its about the new macOS Sonoma update that could be arriving sooner than you think. We don’t have much information about it as Apple has remained tight lipped about its official release date, but we have found some clues that can give you a little sneak peak on its release date. For the first time in four years it seems that macOS Sonoma is releasing anytime now. Let us take a closer look at the release date of macOS Sonoma , and what it has instore for us.Here is a draft article on the potential macOS Sonoma release date:
Apple’s next major macOS update, macOS Sonoma, was announced at the WWDC 2023 in June. While Apple has not officially announced a release date, the progress of the beta testing period provides clues as to when macOS Sonoma may launch.
Looking back at the history, major macOS updates have been released in either September or October. The last September macOS release was macOS Mojave in 2018. The updates since then macOS Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, and Ventura were all released in October or November.
This year, the macOS Sonoma beta appears to be ahead of schedule compared to last year’s macOS Ventura beta. The seventh macOS Sonoma beta has a build number ending in “a,” while the seventh macOS Ventura beta build ended in “f.” Build numbers ending in earlier letters typically signal the beta period is nearing completion.
The pacing of the macOS Sonoma beta suggests a September release could be possible this year, rather than the October/November timeframe of the past four years. A September release would match perfectly with the expectations for iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and tvOS 17, which are also rumored to be on track for September launches. Apple often separates iOS and macOS releases by a couple of weeks, so iOS 17 may debut first followed by macOS Sonoma.
That said, macOS Ventura had 11 beta versions before its public release, whereas macOS Sonoma is currently only on beta 7. There are likely still a few more betas to come, so an October release can’t be ruled out yet.
While the exact macOS Sonoma release date is not yet out, the beta’s progress points toward a potential September release rather than October/November. However, Apple’s plans could certainly change before the software is ready for public release. We’ll have to wait for official word from Apple on when macOS Ventura will hit Macs worldwide.
