Finally, the wait for Apple fans is going to be over. Soon we can go to get the iOS 17 Release Candidate (RC). This is a pre-launched version of iOS 17, that marks the confirmation of getting the iOS 17 official software update soon and the end of the beta program. Finally, you can get rid of the buggy beta program and get your hands on the pre-finalized version of iOS 17. But when is it going to be released? I know every one of you is eager to try out iOS 17 RC, so here we are discussing the release date and how can we get it on our compatible iOS devices.
Apple first revealed iOS 17 at their Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event back in early June. Since the initial announcement, they’ve been constantly releasing new developer beta versions leading up to the public release. We’re now getting close to the end of the beta testing period, which hints at the upcoming arrival of the Release Candidate (RC) build – essentially the final pre-launch version of iOS 17.
What is RC version for iOS?
The RC version stands for “Release Candidate” and is really important for the final version of iOS before the software is released to the general public. RC comes after the beta testing period, usually after around 8 beta versions have been tested. The RC build is intended to be the final release version unless critical bugs are discovered that require a fix.
Apple releases the RC version to developers to give them time to test their apps against the final OS and prepare for the public launch. If no major issues are found with the RC, it becomes the public release version available to all users. The RC version gives users and developers the chance to preview the finished product before it officially launches. The RC build is what iOS will look and perform like when the major update is finally released by Apple.
IOS 17 RC release date
Based on Apple’s previous timelines for iOS updates, we can predict the iOS 17 RC will likely drop on September 12th. This falls right after Apple’s scheduled September 12th special event where they’ll be releasing the iPhone 15 lineup. Releasing the RC version shortly after their announcement makes perfect sense. Once the iOS 17 RC goes live, Apple typically doesn’t put out any additional betas unless they discover critical bugs that need squashing. So the RC is expected to be the last version before the full public iOS 17 launch.
Looking back at previous iOS RC timelines shows Apple usually takes anywhere from 6 to 20 days after releasing beta 8 before they push out the RC build. We’re currently 6 days past the beta 8 release which means the RC could still be up to two weeks away. However, with Apple’s imminent iPhone launch event, we may see the RC sooner than later.
Once the iOS 17 RC becomes available, it will represent the final testing version before the full public rollout. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as Apple drops the Release Candidate build, so stay tuned for that.
Until next time, with another topic. Till then, Toodles.
