As an iPhone user, I recently updated to iOS 16.4 and was excited to try out the new Voice Isolation feature. I often find myself frustrated during phone calls when background noise or interference makes it difficult to hear the other person clearly, so I was hopeful that this feature would improve call quality.

After enabling Voice Isolation in Control Center, I made a few test phone calls and was pleasantly surprised by the results. The feature effectively reduced background noise, making the other person’s voice much clearer and easier to understand. Even in noisy environments, such as a busy coffee shop or a loud street, I was able to have a conversation without struggling to hear the other person.

I also appreciated that the feature was available for regular cellular phone calls, not just FaceTime calls. This makes it a valuable addition for anyone who spends a lot of time on the phone, whether for work or personal reasons.

How does Voice Isolation work on iOS 16.4?

Voice Isolation is a unique feature available on iOS 16.4 that uses machine learning to filter out background noise and microphone interference during phone calls. To enable it, simply tap the microphone icon in the Control Center during a call and select Voice Isolation from the Mic Mode settings.

This feature works like active noise cancellation found in some earbuds and can make a significant difference in call quality. It isolates the user’s voice and blocks out ambient noise around them, resulting in a crystal-clear call experience.

Voice Isolation uses a neural network to adapt to different types of background noise and interference, providing consistent performance in various environments. It can also enhance privacy and security by reducing the risk of unintentionally sharing private conversations or sensitive information during a call.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the Voice Isolation feature in iOS 16.4. It has made my phone calls less annoying and more enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend it to other iPhone users.
