Widgets are the real charm of Apple’s latest iOS 14 update. Widgets are shortcuts that show up on your iPhone’s home screen in an aesthetic way to make your home screen look cool and quickly access that app featuring without navigating anywhere else.
Even Google added the support of its apps for iOS 14 widgets. Hence, you can simply add Gmail or Google Search widget to the iOS 14 home screen. Even Twitter widget is available with the help of a third-party app. But we haven’t seen any official widgets from Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Luckily, the makers of the Instagram app have recently confirmed something exciting.
That’s right! The company is testing the new IG Story Widget for iOS 14 devices. The company confirmed this news on Nov 12. Even some selected testers have got this new feature and started testing it on their iPhone.
As for now, the company has not landed the Instagram Widget for iOS 14. But it would be interesting to see the new Instagram Story Widget on the iPhone home screen. If you are excited about this new feature and want to test, then let’s find out how to check if the feature is available on your device with the below steps.
How To Add Instagram Story Widget in iOS 14 on iPhone
Step #1: Long-press anywhere on your iPhone’s home screen to start the jiggle mode.
Step #2: Once the apps start dancing, tap on the Plus (+) icon on the screen’s top-right corner.
Step #3: Now tap “Instagram” in the search bar and you will see the Story option with “Quickly view the latest Stories from the accounts you follow.”
Step #4: Finally, tap on the “Add Widget” to add it to your iPhone’s home screen.
While adding the Instagram Story Widget on the iOS 14 home screen, if you don’t see any option to add Instagram Story Widget, then you are not lucky to test this upcoming feature. You will have to wait for the final release of the new Instagram Story Widget update.
Fortunately, if you get a chance to test this new feature, you will see the new Instagram Story Widget with four circles with three stories from the person you follow and one to add your own story. You can tap any one story to check the story, and then it will take you to the Instagram app. Once you have seen the story, you will be redirected to the Instagram home screen instead of the story cycle.
Similarly, you can also add your own story by tapping on your story circle quickly without navigating to the Instagram app. If you add IG stories so often, then you will love this new feature.
There is no news about the release of the next Instagram Story Widget update, but we can expect it next week. Let’s wait for the final version. Which other widgets do you want to see on your iOS 14 home screen? Please do share your thoughts in the comment section.
