How To Start A Watch Party Via SharePlay iOS 15.1 Update

Far from loved ones but still want to watch a favourite show together? Luckily, Apple’s iOS 15.1 update has the feature to start a watch party on FaceTime with your friends and family. We are talking about the FaceTime SharePlay feature to share the iPhone screen. 

Whether you want to watch the final moment of a live NBA match or the premiere episode of new Apple TV+ show, now you can start the FaceTime video call with your friend to watch the show together on iPhone running iOS 15.1. You will need to start the app to stream while the call is on and tap on the Share play button to watch the show together 

How To Watch Movies Or Shows Together Via FaceTime Screen Share on iOS 15.1

Note: Make sure that both users are running the iOS 15.1 update. Make sure that the app you are using for watch party together is a supported app. Apple is adding more apps to support Share play using API. 

  1. Open the FaceTime app on your iPhone.
  2. Next, start a FaceTime video call with the contact. Or you can create a FaceTime link and share it with other contacts.
  3. Start the Shows or Movies on iPhone while the FaceTime call is on. But make sure that everyone has subscribed the app.
  4. Next, tap on the new Screen Share button on the right top corner of the FaceTime window.
  5. Now the other person will get the notification, tap on it to accept screen share via SharePlay.

Once you tap on the Screen Share button, the show or movies will be playable on both devices with proper sync and sound while still on video chat. This is how you can keep the FaceTime video all on and watch the content together. Meanwhile, you can also chit-chat with your friend, the sound of the video will get low when you start talking. Users from both sides will able to control the sound of the video. 

Many users are also asking is it possible to use SharePlay on Android via FaceTime. But Apple releases this feature only for iPhone users right now. As for now, no screen sharing option available for Android users.
