Apple’s latest iOS 17 update comes with several new features like customized alwayson display, sleep tracking, new widgets, standby mode and more. However, like any major software update, it also comes with its fair share of bugs and issues. Without any further detail, let us get straight into the iOS 17 issues and problems.
Battery drain
Everyone must be expecting these issues, since it is the only thing that is constant after every update. Many users have complained of faster than normal battery drain after updating to iOS 17. This has mostly happened on older iPhone models. If your iPhone is draining battery then its okay it is completely normal for it to happen since your iPhone is going under changes of the new system update. However, here are some tips to improve battery life that you can try:
- Turn off Background App Refresh in Settings > General > Background App Refresh. This prevents apps from refreshing content in the background when not in use.
- Disable Location Services for apps that don’t need it under Settings > Privacy > Location Services. The constant use of GPS in the background can drain the battery.
- Turn off Raise to Wake under Settings > Display & Brightness. This feature activates the display when you pick up your phone and can cause battery drain.
- Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use under Settings. The constant search for connections uses up battery.
- Check battery health under Settings > Battery > Battery Health. If maximum capacity is below 80%, consider replacing the battery.
- Reduce screen brightness and auto-lock duration to minimize energy consumption.
App Crashing
Many apps may be incompatible with iOS 17 initially and may crash frequently. This is pretty common since not all applications are compatible. You need to update all the application from the Appstore if available so that they can run smoothly with iOS 17. You can also delete and then reinstall the app that will restart the app removing all the unnecessary bugs causing issues.
Connectivity Issues
There have been complaints of Wi-Fi, cellular data, and Bluetooth issues after updating. This is uncommon to occur after the update. however, this could also be due to your iPhone trying to adjust in its new environment after iOS 17 update. there isn’t much to do to solve this issues but you van always reset the network settings, forget the network and reconnect or maybe even put your device into airplane mode for a while.
Slow Performance
Many users have complained about their device giving slow performance than usual. This happened specifically to the older iPhone models. It could be due to their bionic chip that overheats due to the load of the new settings. This could be the reason for slow performance. There are certain things that you can do such as clearing storage space, reducing unwanted animations, clearing cache, deleting unwanted files etc. if your device is 3 years old or more than this issue is bound to happen.
Installation Issues
Some users have reported upgrade failures and installation issues. This could be due to low Wi-Fi connectivity. Or maybe your device is way old that it is having issues with the new software update. maybe try deleting files and clearing up the storage.
Overheating
Some users have experienced overheating and excessive warmth from their iOS devices after installing iOS 17, especially during charging or gameplay. This can happen due to the sudden changes and loading after the update. This can be for a certain time, but it will be resolved once your iPhone get used to the new system. You can try to use these tips and tricks to try and get rid of this issue.
- Remove any heavy duty cases from your phone to improve heat dissipation. Switch to a thin case instead.
- Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not needed to reduce energy consumption and heat generation.
- Disable Background App Refresh and reduce screen brightness to minimize energy usage.
Face ID and Touch ID Problems
Face ID or Touch ID may stop working or get unreliable after an iOS 17 update. This issue created a certain hazard among users since they were not able to unlock their iPhone. it will be solved since it isn’t something that was causing overall issue, and it certainly did not come with the update. it was due to the changes. Still you can delete touch id for face id and then redo it again.
