What Does The Moon Mean on iPhone?

mm

For a couple of years I have been using iPhone. I love to keep my iPhone’s home screen neat and clean. Even I don’t like to see the location or internet icon on the top of the screen. Hence, I keep the location service, and mobile data turned off. It also helps to save battery life. However, last week I suddenly noticed a Moon icon on the top, and I was like, what does the moon mean on iPhone.

The moon icon was showing on the top of the screen; it was also next to a couple of contacts in the iMessages app. At the time, I wondered how I got rid of the moon on my iPhone. But my mind was asking what the moon meant on my iPhone. Once I started seeing the half mood icon on my iPhone, I asked one and here is the answer.

What Does Moon Mean on iPhone?

Half or a crescent moon icon on the status bar or at the next to any contact means that Do Not Disturb service is enabled on iPhone under the Focus mode in iOS 15. Even if you have locked the iPhone, you will still see the Moon icon on the lock screen.

If you have seen moon icon next to text or contact, you have selected not to receive any notifications or messages from that contact.

How To Remove Moon Icon on iPhone: Next to Next or From Status Bar

However, you can still get rid of the moon from your iPhone by disabling the Do Not Disturb service from iPhone.

Note: We tried these steps on iOS 15 running iPhone. Make sure that your iPhone is also running iOS 15 update.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Next, tap on Focus.
  3. Select ‘Do Not Disturb’ at the option from the top.
  4. Now turn the toggle off next to ‘Do Not Disturb’.

That’s it.

You can also turn the mood icon off for specific contact or person under the Do Not Disturb section. It would help if you tapped on People under the Do Not Disturb and removed that contact from the list or selected specific contact under the Do Not Disturb service.

If you don’t want to go through the Settings app, you can directly turn the Do Not Disturb service off the Control Center. You can bring the Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner and selecting Focus moon with the moon icon. Under the Focus Mode, tap on the Do Not Disturb service and turn it off.
