The most talked about and most awaited Live Activities feature finally added by Apple with the release of the new iOS 16.1 update. This new feature will appear on the iPhone’s lock screen and on the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro models.

Apple’s iOS 16.1 Live Activities feature is specially designed to show the current and real-time events happening in the background of the iPhone. For example, if you have booked Uber, you will get the live location tracking at the bottom of the lock screen. So, you don’t have to unlock the iPhone or look for ongoing activity.

Where are these Live Activities visible?

Apple has specially designed Live Activities for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to add within the Dynamic Island. That’s right. If you are following the live match score, it will be visible at the top on Dynamic Island. When you long-press on it, Dynamic Island will expand and show the live action in play-by-play mode.

If you are using any other model than iPhone 14 Pro models, then you will see the Live Activities section on the bottom of the lock screen. Even if you have iPhone 14 Pro model and locked the device, it will be shown on the lock screen.

How To Turn On Live Activities On iOS 16.1

Note: Ensure you have updated your iPhone to the latest iOS 16.1 update.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Face ID & Passcode.
  3. Enter the Passcode.
  4. Scroll down to “Allow Access When Locked,” toggle the switch next to Live Activities to the green ON position.

That’s it.

Once you have followed the above four steps, you will get the Live Activities feature enabled on your iPhone to track or keep your eyes on the live or real-time events on your iPhone.

Currently, limited apps support this feature, but if you are following MLB games, NBA, and Premier League games, then you can use the Live Activities for the love score in US and Canada.

Also, many other apps like Slopes, Flighty, Landscape, Forest, CARROT Weather, Lumy, Crouton, Pestle, and more support this feature. App developers are also working on adding more apps to support Live Activities.
