How to Play war on Your Mac with 3 Methods

mm

Call of Duty has gone on to gain a cult following since its launch in Oct of 2003. In 2019, the mobile version was made available for iOS and Android users. But unfortunately, even after 20 years of its release, Mac users can’t play the game, or so one thought!

What if I told you, you could play the game on Mac? You wouldn’t believe it, would you?

I have found workarounds that let you play your favorite game on Mac. I will mention 3 of the methods here.

Without further ado, let’s jump right into it.

How to Play Call of Duty on Mac

The minimum operating system requirement for Call of Duty (COD) is Windows 7 64-Bit (SP1) or Windows 10 64-Bit. So if you’re looking to play the game on Mac, you will have to run windows on the Mac Operating System(MacOS).

If you’re wondering if it’s possible to run windows on Mac, let me assure you that you absolutely can. You would have no problem running Windows on Mac as the MacOS also supports Windows.

There’s the option, of course, of not needing to run Windows on a Mac. More on that later.

1.   Create a Virtual Windows Environment on Mac

Virtualization is a method where you use virtual machine tools to run Windows in macOS itself instead of splitting your drive into separate Windows and macOS partitions.

To create a virtual environment on Mac, you need to buy one of the many VM software available, such as Parallels Desktop for Mac, Windows 365 Cloud PC, and VMWare Fusion, to name a few.

All these software, however, come at a price. Also, you may find that your system isn’t working as smoothly. The reason is that running a dual-operating system can greatly strain your processor and memory. You would also need a minimum of  40 GB or more free storage space on your Mac startup disk to run windows.

So let’s move on to the next alternative.

2. Have a Dual Booting macOS and Windows

A better option than running two operating systems simultaneously would be to split your Mac hard drive into two different partitions—one for running macOS and the other for Windows.

A big advantage of this method is you don’t have to buy any third-party software. In addition, Apple offers the Boot Camp Assistant that will let you boot between Windows and macOS without any hassles.

Here’s a quick rundown on installing Windows using Boot Camp Assistant:

When running Boot Camp Assistant for the first time will prompt you for various options, starting with the ISO image. Selecting the ISO file of your choice will copy the Windows ISO file to a USB drive.

Once you’ve finished downloading Windows, restart your Mac. It will now download the appropriate drivers for you.

For Windows versions older than 8.1, you will need to download drivers compatible with your Mac device from the Apple website.

Next up, Boot Camp Assistant will split your Mac hard drive into sections, allocating just 40 Gb of space to Windows.

Once Boot Camp has finished all the tasks, it will shut off your Mac and launch the Windows installer program. Follow the prompts to install Windows. Once the installation is complete, you can dual boot between macOS and Windows using the Alt or Option key. To play the game, you have to select the Windows partition.

3.  Use ApowerMirror

If you find the setting up of dual boot via the Boot Camp Assistant all too technical, you can use ApowerMirror. ApowerMirror is a wireless screen mirroring app that allows you to cast your Android phone to your Mac. Moreover, you can remotely control your Android device from your Mac using your mouse and keyboard with the added benefit of letting you stream the mirrored screen to applications like OBS Studio.
