Have you ever wondered how they get your contact information, and how do they exactly know what you want at that point of time, there are many ways and one of them is Social-Media. As you might be familiar with Facebook, Instagram or Google, they all track your activities and share all your data even your contact information to the advertising companies.

Other reason might be that you might have given your contact information to some companies for any of your personal reasons. Or you might have filled a survey form online, or you might have enrolled in any activity by filling out some online form.

The spam messages or calls do not usually come from some other phone, it is actually computer generated sent to you via email address, or some messaging account free of charge. That is why you cannot precisely track then back with their contact information.

WHAT HARM CAN IT DO TO YOU?

Even if we ignore these spam messages and all they can still be harmful. Some phone plans may also charge you for receiving spam text messages. Spam SMS can expose you to identity theft, install malware on your smartphone, and access your personal information. After getting access to your personal information, especially bank details, the spam senders may fraud you by taking away your money without even you knowing about it.

Like for example installing malware through these spam link with even any knowledge of the user. So, always be careful with this kind of situation, because once the security of your iPhone is breached then there is no going back your iPhone will forever be a hub to all these scammers.

DO’S AND DONT’S

•       Do not respond to any of the spam messages, if you respond it will just help them confirm your number and sold your personal information to other scammers.

•       Do not click on any link or attachment shared in messages, as it will infect your phone by installing malware.

•       If they ask you to text ‘STOP,’ ‘UNSUBSCRIBE,’ or ‘NO’ to be removed from their list, don’t do it.

•       Check your mobile phones bill, as some spam messages charge you separately.

•       Check if your mobile carrier offers call/message blocking service.
